Systems Administrator I

Your Responsibilities

The Systems Administrator installs, configures and maintains operating systems, workstations and servers.  They Schedule and perform software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.  The IT Administrator monitors the Helpdesk queue (phone, voicemail, e-mail and ticketing system) for support requests.


Your Tasks

  • Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve computer issues including hardware, software applications, basic networking, printers, etc.
  • Be the single point of contact throughout the lifecycle of a ticket; including research and communication of status to users
  • Working with IT Teams to resolve/escalate problems
  • Provide basic support for software, hardware, peripherals, and network access
  • Research various problems to provide appropriate responses to end users, ability to perform basic troubleshooting and assist users through simple procedures
  • Monitor Helpdesk queue (phone, voicemail, e-mail and ticketing system) for support requests
  • Provide basic administration of accounts and passwords
  • Contribute to the knowledgebase
  • Enforce and ensure group wide server workplace hardware standards, operating system and software standards are met as defined by Global IT and best practices
  • Assistance in implementation and support of global IT infrastructure
  • Coordinating with vendors and 3rd parties in respect to service delivery
  • Ensures adequate level of GMP CFR Part 11 compliance as per organization guidelines
  • Ensures help desk quality standards and availability as per Global IT
  • Ensures a positive safety culture is sustained
  • Ensures safety and environmental policies are adhered to in order to protect the health and safety of employees, visitors, contractors and the community
  • Document and analyze information
  • Manage data backup
  • Flexibility with work shift - after hour support and on call schedule as necessary


Your Profile

  • College degree in Information Technology or a technical major in Engineering or Computer Science
  • A minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in systems administration or a technical Help Desk role, preferably in a multi-site environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent computer knowledge, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to effectively organize, multitask, and work in a fast-paced, deadline driven work environment
  • Ability to communicate in a proactive and solution-focused manner, including keeping management aware of potential issues
  • Detail oriented with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical and analytical problems
  • Ability to work independently and manage one’s time
  • Communicate effectively and ability to function well in a team environment
