Staff Accountant
A brief overview
The Staff Accountant position is a part of the Global Function (GF) of the Finance department. This position is a key member of the accounting team and is responsible for processing, analyzing, reconciling and reporting transactions in areas of accounting and reporting.
What you will do
- The accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of the business results
- Reconcile general ledger accounts, e.g., bank, prepaid, inventory, fixed asset, payables
- Resolve discrepancies and prepare journal entries
- Perform financial modeling and analysis
- Active participation in the monthly close
- Preparation of monthly financial statements and managerial reports
- Active participation in the year-end close process with external auditors
- Prepare compliance and regulatory work papers and filings- income tax, sales tax
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or similar field
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in accounting/finance
- Must possess excellent technological and analytical skills
- Must possess solid knowledge of all aspects of generally accepted accounting principles
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to effectively organize, multitask, and work in a fast-paced, deadline driven work environment
- Ability to communicate in a proactive and solution-focused manner, including keeping management aware of potential issues.
- Detail oriented with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems
- Ability to work independently and manage one’s time
- Communicate effectively and ability to function well in a team environment
- Knowledge of IFRS (preferred)
- SAP experience (preferred)
- Previous public accounting experience (preferred)
- Manufacturing and or life science work experience (preferred)
Base salary range: $60,082 - $82,613
Placement of new hires in this wage range is based on several factors including education, skill sets, experience, and training.
