Sr. Project Manager
A brief overview
The Sr. Project Manager is responsible for the coordination and proactive management of ongoing active pharmaceutical ingredient manufacturing campaigns for Bachem customers in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. The Sr. PM reports to the Group Leader or Director of Project Management and liaises externally with the customers as well as internally with Bachem Sales and site-specific Operations (QC, QA, Logistics, and Production/Manufacturing) teams to ensure that the clients' milestones and deliverables are met.
What you will do
- Leading project teams (10-20 internal and additional external members; high technical complexity) for customer and in-house R&D projects operationally; developing CMC strategies to expand client relationships
- Acting as business lead in ongoing collaborations: contract negotiations, business proposals and forecasting, risk-sharing options
- Accountable for adhering to project scope and reaching deliverables on time by considering associated agreements/contracts with the customer
- Go-to person for project-related tasks, questions and issues (in line with roles and responsibilities as defined in the PM Guide)
- Structuring, leading, and monitoring activities together with the project team members by using available tools and systems
- Compiling accurate and fit-for-purpose documentation (minutes, plans, actions, summaries, strategic options, etc.) using existing templates
- Demonstrating professional written and verbal communication on an advanced level
- Representing Bachem in project-related context towards senior and/or executive leadership of Bachem's customers, including representation in joint governance committees
- Reporting accurate project data in existing tools for Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and document exchange platforms (e.g. Salesforce, Teams)
- Business partner to Bachem senior and/or executive leadership to secure necessary capacity and/or support for customer projects
- Recognizing opportunities within project operations to expand scope of the existing collaboration, and proactively taking those up with the project team for presentation to the customer with the target of generating significant additional business
- Coaching of more junior colleagues in the context of the technical career path
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in science (chemistry, biochemistry, biology or similar) with 5 years of relevant work experience
- Bachelor's degree in science related field with 10 or more years of relevant work experience
- PhD in science (chemistry, biochemistry, biology, bioengineering, or similar) or MBAPMP Certification (referred)
- Minimum of 5 years in a customer-facing or CMC project management role
- Ability to understand financial aspects of customer accounts (Payment terms, pre-payment requirements, forecasting)
- Excellent computer skills, especially MS Office, CRM (Salesforce), Master Control, Document-sharing (SharePoint, ShareFile), ERP (SAP), Online and video-conferencing meetings; MS Project
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to effectively organize, multitask, and work in a fast-paced, deadline driven work environment with minimal supervision
- Ability to communicate in a proactive and solution-focused manner, including keeping management aware of potential issues
- Detail oriented with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems
- Ability to work independently and manage one’s time
- Communicate effectively and ability to function well in a team environment
Base Salary Range: $142,640 - $196,130
Placement of new hires in these wage ranges is based on several factors including education, skill sets, experience, and training.
