Your Responsibilities

 

The Senior Director, Services plans, directs, manages and oversees all activities of the Services Department including Materials Management, Facilities, Production Scheduling, Administrative Assistants, Special Projects and Technical Writing. This role is highly strategic and provides a high level coordination for activities related to the support of Site Operations.  The incumbent exercises significant authority and independence for implementing a broad range of services to the Site. The Senior Director, Services is responsible for leadership, staffing, budget and planning responsibilities for the department.  

 

Your Tasks

 

  • Ability to demonstrate independent judgment, anticipate business needs and take initiative to solve problems, make recommendations and implement process/project improvements.
  • Creates User Requirement Specifications and executes strategic projects (incl. CAPEX projects).
  • Communicate with legal counsel and safety department to ensure all processes remain compliant with OSHA and other governmental regulations.
  • Work with vendors to process and execute new task orders and scopes of work in collaboration with functional leads, project leads and internal stakeholders.
  • Support government and customer inspections such as FDA, EPA, OSHA, AQMD etc.
  • Responsible for all aspects of operations pertaining to waste minimization, yield maximization, labor utilization, and optimization of technology.
  • Encourages teams' partnership with the Site Operation Team as well as the Bachem Americas Leadership Team.
  • Ensures safety initiatives are met, empowering Safety Committee to regularly inspect warehouse facilities and equipment for job readiness and safe operations.
  • Decisive and strategically achieve operational excellence.
  • Responsible for updating technical documents together with the equipment owners, global engineering, Quality, Quality Control and EHS.
  • Responsible for the safe and regulated storage of raw materials, intermediates and final products under cGMP conditions.
  • Ensuring the proper functionality of the central energy-, exhaust- and alarm systems.
  • Cost optimization, financial performance history and compiling data of energy, planned maintenance and other services.
  • Initiation, control and surveillance of the annual budget process (Personnel, costs and capital investments).
  • Responsible for achieving annual goals in the areas of compliance and operational excellence. Definition of suitable key performance indicators (KPIs) for the Services Team.
  • May perform additional service duties as assigned.
  • Perform site tours with visitors and new team members.
  • Oversee recruiting, objectives setting, and performance monitoring of the Services Teams
  • Manage, develop, coach, motivate and provide leadership to team members to develop their skills to ensure that a high professional standard is achieved and KPI targets are met.
  • Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities according to the team member’s level of capability.
  • Effectively communicate with all team members at all levels of the organization, ensuring respect and esteem are maintained.
  • Initiate communication, listen attentively and successfully manage difficult conversations. If needed, constructively mediate between different parties.
  • Identify and share training opportunities for staff to build and improve skills.

 

Your Profile

 

  • Master’s Degree in Process Engineering with 10 years of experience or 15 years Manufacturing experience or Operation experience, with continuously increasing responsibility and oversight.
  • 10 years of Leadership experience managing multiple departments.
  • Experience within CMO/CDMO environment
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills.
  • Solid computer knowledge including Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent organizational and managerial skills; work independently.
  • Familiarity with Pharmaceutical GMP manufacturing.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical and analytical problems in a pragmatic way.
  • Positive and determined attitude with the ability to proactively communicate in a proactive and solution-focused manner; keep management informed of potential issues.
  • Ability to motivate and organize multiple efforts and inspire team members to accomplish goals.
  • Able to travel as required

 

Preferred

 

  • Lean or Six Sigma process experience
