Demand Planner

This position is responsible for the Sales & Operations Planning process and acts as the contact person all matters relating to demand planning at BACHEM America. Ensuring the continuous optimization of the S&OP process/demand planning and its adaptation to new requirements (internal / external). This is primarily a remote position with site visits required as needed. 


Your tasks:


  • Accountable during S&OP cycles by delivering the forecast information to relevant departments for review and discussion in the consensus meeting
  • Organize and lead monthly pre-S&OP and Executive S&OP meetings
  • Run forecast review meetings to ensure clear communication regarding forecast, forecast variances, risks/opportunities, gaps, and changes that can be used in the S&OP meetings. Also, ensure updated forecast assumption is reflected in the demand plan
  • Working with the sales department to determine the forecast, which includes integrating historical sales trends and researching demand drivers (competitive responses, trend, substitution effects, etc.)
  • Develop and maintain accurate forecast over a rolling horizon based on planning and scheduling
  • Measure forecast accuracy and determine the root cause behind the forecast variances, as well as communicate and take corrective actions
  • Based on a good understanding of market data in the Peptide industry, working with Sales, Marketing, Planning, Production, and Procurement to obtain and ensure that current and accurate information is used for demand forecasts
  • Utilize our regional capacity in the US to balance the demand and to ensure high utilization. Create and maintain documentation and standard operating procedure (SOPs) for S&OP and demand planning processes and system relevant to peptide manufacturing
  • Maintenance and administration of forecasting and demand planning master data in the Supply Chain in the ERP system
  • Timely and accurate response when it comes to demand and forecast related requests from all areas of the organization
  • Support the Senior Leadership for decision making by developing and maintaining planning tools and providing analytical reports
  • Support other functions for special projects.


Your Profile:


  • Bachelor degree in Chemistry or similar field with a minimum of 2 years experience in Supply Chain Planning for Active Pharmaceutical ingredient (APIs) development-related industries or
  • Equivalent Business degree in another area with a minimum of 5 years experience in Supply Chain Planning within relevant markets such as biotech or pharma
  • Experience with planning production and materials
  • In-depth knowledge of forecasting, S&OP, supply/demand planning
  • Excellent skills with working in a multi-culture environment
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze complex data sets and to support day-to-day activities
  • Experience with ERP and data tools
  • Excellent written/oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Expert computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office
  • Highly Proficient in Microsoft Office, MS Project is a plus
  • Enjoys working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and is flexible in adapting to changing trends in the business and requests
  • Ability to communicate in a proactive and solution-focused manner
  • Communicate effectively and ability to function well in a team environment




  • Expereince in a Peptide Company
  • Experience with SAP
  • APICS certification or in progress
