A brief overview


The Facilities Maintenance Manager oversees the design, planning, construction, and upkeep of the organization's buildings, equipment, and related infrastructure. This role ensures that all facilities and manufacturing machinery are maintained in optimal condition to support the achievement of organizational goals.


 

What you will do

 

  • Troubleshoot maintenance issues and recommend operational improvements or cost-saving initiatives.

  • Forecast, plan and manage facility improvement projects from concept through completion, including budgeting.

  • Perform timely maintenance, modifications, and repairs on equipment and systems.

  • Develop and implement a preventive maintenance program to ensure equipment reliability.

  • Prepare and manage the facilities department budget, tracking expenses throughout the year.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of repairs and replacements in compliance with SOPs and cGMP standards.

  • Create and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as needed.

  • Oversee contracts and performance of third-party service providers (e.g., cleaning, waste, security).

  • Coordinate with department heads to minimize downtime and production delays during repairs.

  • Ensure vendor work is completed accurately, billed correctly, and stays within budget.

  • Respond promptly to emergencies and provide after-hours on-call support, including holidays.

  • Manage spare parts inventory and maintain a clean, organized maintenance workspace.

 


Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's Degree with 5 years' relevant work experience or Required

  • High School Diploma with 10 years' relevant work experience

  • Minimum of 8 years relevant work experience and

  • At least 8 years’ experience in facilities maintenance: including but not limited too electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, refrigeration, and/or equipment

  • Knowledge of cGMP manufacturing and basic chemical safety procedures

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Ability to effectively organize, multitask, and work in a fast-paced, deadline driven work environment

  • Ability to communicate in a proactive and solution-focused manner, including keeping management aware of potential issues

  • Detail oriented with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems

  • Ability to work independently and manage one’s time

  • Communicate effectively and ability to function well in a team environment

  • Familiarity of standard laboratory practices

  • Familiar with Environmental Health and Safety regulations

Base Annual Salary Range: $110,080 to $151,360

Placement of new hires in these wage ranges is based on several factors including education, skill sets, experience, and training.
