Group Leader TechOps Laboratories

Bachem is a world leader in the development and manufacture of peptides and oligonucleotides for the pharmaceutical industry. To support our continued growth in Vionnaz (Valais, Switzerland), we are looking for a Group Leader TechOps Laboratories 100% (all). In this strategic role, you will lead the Optimization & Troubleshooting Laboratory and play a key part in technology transfer, process development, manufacturing support, and continuous improvement initiatives within our Technical Operations organization. 

Your Responsibilities 

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of laboratory professionals while promoting a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement. 

• Coordinate laboratory activities supporting technology transfers, process familiarization, scale-up, and new product introductions. 

• Ensure manufacturing readiness through process optimization and generation of critical process knowledge. 

• Provide scientific and technical expertise to manufacturing operations and support strategic product introductions. 

• Lead troubleshooting investigations related to process deviations, yield losses, quality events, and manufacturing challenges. 

• Drive root cause analyses (RCA), risk assessments, FMEAs, and corrective action implementation. 

• Promote technical excellence by identifying innovative technologies, industry best practices, and digitalization opportunities. 

• Ensure compliance with GMP, HSE, quality requirements, and corporate procedures while maintaining high-quality technical documentation. 

Your Profile 

• PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related scientific discipline. 

• Minimum 5 years of experience in process development, manufacturing support, technology transfer, or industrial chemistry. 

• Proven leadership experience in a laboratory, technical, manufacturing, or pharmaceutical environment. 

• Strong experience in troubleshooting, root cause investigations, and process optimization. 

• Solid understanding of GMP-regulated manufacturing environments. 

• Experience in peptide manufacturing, LPPS and/or SPPS is a strong advantage. 

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work across global and cross-functional teams. 

• Fluent in English and French (minimum C1); German is an advantage.
