IT Systems Engineer

Your Responsibilities

The Systems Engineer manages and monitors all installed systems and infrastructure components. This includes installing, configuring, testing and maintaining operating systems, application software and system management tools.  Monitors Helpdesk queue (phone, voicemail, e-mail and ticketing system) for support requests.

 

Your Tasks

  • Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve computer issues including hardware, software applications, basic networking, printers, etc.
  • Be single point of contact throughout the lifecycle of a ticket; including research and communication of status to users
  • Working with IT Teams to resolve/escalate problems
  • Provide basic and extended support for software, hardware, peripherals, and network access
  • Perform updates and preventive maintenance on all System and Network components
  • Research various problems to provide appropriate responses to end users, ability to perform basic and advanced troubleshooting and assist users through procedures
  • Monitor Helpdesk queue (phone, voicemail, e-mail and ticketing system) for support requests
  • Provide administration of accounts and passwords
  • Contribute to the knowledgebase
  • Enforce and ensure group wide server workplace hardware standards, and operating system and software standards defined by Corporate IT and according to best practices
  • Evaluate and implement global IT infrastructure components
  • Vendor and 3rd party management in respect to service delivery
  • Ensure adequate level of GMP CFR Part 11 compliance as per organization guidelines
  • Manage and execute small and midsize IT projects
  • Ensure help desk quality standards and availability as per Global IT
  • Ensure problem management and continuous optimization of IT infrastructure related services
  • Continuous improvement of the existing infrastructure
  • Ensure a positive safety culture is sustained
  • Ensure safety and environmental policies are adhered to in order to protect the health and safety of employees, visitors, contractors, and the community
  • Document and analyze information
  • Flexibility with work shift - after hours support and on call schedule

 

 

Your Profile

  • BS/MS degree in Information Technology or a technical major in engineering or computer science
  • A minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in systems engineering or 5-6 years' experience as a systems administrator in a multi-site environment
  • Ability to effectively organize, multitask, and work in a fast-paced, deadline driven work environment
  • Ability to communicate in a proactive and solution-focused manner, including keeping management aware of potential issues.
  • Proven working experience in managing and administrating virtual hosting environments, disk storage systems and Microsoft Client and Server environments
  • Detail oriented with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems
  • Ability to work independently and manage one’s time
  • Communicate effectively and ability to function well in a team environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
