Contracts Manager

The Contracts Manager will be supporting Legal Counsel with drafting and negotiating general business agreements relevant to the pharmaceutical and biotech sectors including Development Agreements, Master Services Agreements, Quality Agreements, Requests for Proposals (“RFP’s”) and Vendor Agreements.  The incumbent will initiate the preparation of agreements, independently negotiating terms and conditions with customers and vendors, while moving agreements to conclusion in a timely manner, as well as following up and responding to internal department inquiries.

 

Your Tasks

 

  • Responsible for drafting, reviewing, and gaining the necessary approvals for execution of contracts as necessary to support the Company’s needs.
  • Work close with Legal Counsel, the Finance Department and business unit personnel to support the timely initiations, negotiations, review, execution and administration of contracts and agreements. Keep track of all important details of an agreement, including key deliverables, milestones, dates, deadlines, and opt-out negotiation windows, and termination or cancellation requirements.
  • Negotiate contracts and escalate complex legal and factual issues to legal counsel and relevant stakeholders and assist in resolution. Ensure that executed contracts are appropriately maintained in the Company’s system of records in compliance with applicable laws and the Company’s records retention policy.
  • Solve current contract related problems and anticipate future issues that may arise with either other parties and internally.

 

Required

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of continuing and progressive work experience overseeing contract administration and negotiation in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to effectively organize, multitask, and work in a fast-paced, deadline driven work environment
  • Strong operational judgment; ability to analyze, assess, interpret data and articulate meaningful findings
  • Ability to communicate in a proactive and solution-focused manner, including keeping management aware of potential issues
  • Detail oriented with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical and analytical problems
  • Ability to work independently and manage one’s time
  • Communicate effectively and ability to function well in a team environment

 

Preferred

 

  • MBA or JD
  • Prior experience with Salesforce, DocSign and Sharepoint.
