The Market Intelligence Expert supports strategic decision making, sales processes, projects and daily business by generation and reporting of market insights, competitive intelligence, assets evaluation, due diligence, forecast, and other areas of market intelligence. The identification of business risks and opportunities in an early stage as well as the adequate reporting of the latter are part of the responsibility. The work involves regular and frequent communication with all relevant stakeholders such as Marketing, Sales, BD (Business Development), Product Management, Project Management, Regional Teams, to align the needs for our market intelligence and to foster the exchange of market insights within Bachem.

Main areas of responsibility:

  • Drive market insights on markets, products, customers, competitors etc for all business fields of Bachem and for all geographic regions
  • Generate comprehensive and up-to-date analysis on key commercial drivers, barriers, business opportunities / risks, existing gaps and proposals to close the latter
  • Monitor and analyze market trends in the clinical development space and key product catalyst/events
  • Develop business cases and summaries for evaluation of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs)
  • Provide specific market analyses or business insights on demand, concluded in reports
  • Provide insights on customers’ needs, their decision making and other aspects of market insights
  • Lead secondary and primary competitive research, assessing and managing external consultants, and disseminating intelligence and related implications
  • Manage CI platforms enabling and enhancing the exchange of Market Insights within the organization
  • Support marketing efforts by contributing content focused on clinical development of peptides and therapeutic areas

Additional responsibility:

  • Contribute to the sales lead identification program and generate leads for CMC Development and Commercial API business segments
  • Perform market-specific lead finding projects, maintain the lead finding platforms and manage the leads

 

This is a hybrid position. Candidates are able to work remotely, but are expected to be on site 1-2 days per week.

 

Education

MBA or PhD preferred; Minimum Bachelor`s Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Pharmaceutical Science or a related scientific field with adequate work

  • experience; Sufficient scientific background to understand the core products of Bachem and to communicate with stakeholders in an efficient way 
  • 5 or more years of work experience in market analysis or market insights in the healthcare/life science industries and/or management consultancy
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to details; Ability to think critically and analytically to address problems with a solution-focused mindset; Ability to integrate data from various sources and summarize outputs for absorption and interpretation by key stakeholders
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work effectively with interdisciplinary groups
  • Experience with IMS/IQVIA data as well as using database research tools is a plus
  • In-depth experience with C(D)MO manufacturing or services, pharma or biotech manufacturing or drug development is a plus
  • Experience in merger and acquisition projects, performing thorough market analyses, business case building, modeling and valuation is a plus

 

Languages / IT Experience

  • Fluent in English
  • Expert knowledge in Microsoft Office applications
  • Knowledge of Salesforce or similar CRM tools is a plus
  • Knowledge of SAP is a plus
